Expandable Graphite

Expandable Graphite is a specially processed graphite material, typically produced from natural flake graphite through intercalation treatment. Before heating, it is supplied in flake form. When exposed to elevated temperatures, it rapidly expands along the c-axis of the graphite crystal structure and forms a voluminous worm-like carbon structure. This expansion behavior makes Expandable Graphite a highly functional material for flame-retardant systems, sealing materials, graphite foil production, fire protection products, and selected industrial processing applications.

Compared with ordinary graphite powder, Expandable Graphite offers a unique intumescent effect under heat, allowing it to form an insulating and protective char layer. This property makes it especially suitable for halogen-free flame-retardant formulations, fire protection materials, sealing systems, graphite foil production, specialty coatings, composite materials, and selected advanced carbon-based applications.
